AES Encrypt Decrypt
Protect text with real AES-256 encryption, using a password only you know. Everything runs inside your browser — the password and text never leave your device, and the page even works offline. A lost password means the text cannot be recovered.
How to use
- Choose Encrypt or Decrypt.
- Type or paste your text and enter a password (minimum 4 characters).
- Click Encrypt or Decrypt. The encrypted output is a Base64 string that contains the random salt and IV used, so you only need to keep the output and the password.
- To decrypt later, switch to the Decrypt tab, paste the Base64 string, enter the same password, and click Decrypt.
Note
This tool uses AES-256 in GCM mode with a key derived from your password using PBKDF2 (SHA-256, 100,000 iterations) and a fresh random salt and IV every time. That means encrypting the same text twice gives different output. Decryption detects tampering and fails safely instead of returning garbage. Keep your password safe — a lost password means the text cannot be recovered.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do I encrypt text with AES?
Enter your text and a password. The tool encrypts with AES-256 in GCM mode using a key derived by PBKDF2 with a fresh random salt and IV each time.
Does my password leave the browser?
No. Everything runs fully client side, so your password and text never leave your browser, and the page works offline too.
What happens if I forget my password?
The text cannot be recovered. There is no backdoor, so keep your password safe.
Why is the output different every time?
A fresh random salt and IV are used for each encryption, so encrypting the same text twice gives different results.
Does it detect tampering?
Yes. Decryption detects changed data and fails safely instead of returning garbage.
