Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How does the Assignment Word Counter count words?
Paste or type your text into any section. Words are counted by splitting on white space, characters are counted with and without spaces, and sentences are detected from sentence-ending punctuation. All totals update live as you type.
Can I count words per section of my assignment?
Yes. Add named sections such as Introduction, Body or Conclusion. Each section has its own text area and its own live word, character and sentence counts, and all sections are added into the totals.
How does the target word count tracker work?
Enter your target word count, for example 1500 words. The progress bar shows how far you have come, and the indicator tells you how many words you are under or over the target.
How are pages estimated?
Total words are divided by the words-per-page value you set. Change the words-per-page setting to match your formatting and the page estimate updates instantly.
Is my assignment text saved anywhere?
Your sections are autosaved in your own browser local storage so you can close the tab and continue later. Nothing is sent to a server or stored online.
How is reading time calculated?
Reading time is estimated at 200 words per minute, a common average reading speed. Divide your total word count by 200 to get minutes and seconds.
