Board Migration Certificate Guide

A migration certificate (also called an NOC) is the official paper your board issues when you move to another board, school, college or university. Without it, the new board will not accept your admission. This guide covers the documents, the fee, the process, and gives you a ready application letter.

Application letter generator

Fill in your details to generate a formal application letter for the migration certificate. Copy it and submit it with your form.

Your application letter

Documents you will need

  • Board registration number (from your registration card)
  • Copy of the school or college leaving certificate
  • Copy of your result card (SSC or HSSC)
  • Copy of B-Form or CNIC
  • Paid fee challan (depositor copy attached with the form)
  • Written application (use the generator above)

Fee (examples)

Every board sets its own fee, so pay exactly what your board challan says. Recent published examples:

  • BISE Mardan: Rs 1,500 board-to-board, Rs 2,000 board-to-university
  • Federal Board (FBISE): Rs 530 for local students, US $20 for overseas students
  • BISE Peshawar: Rs 1,500
  • BISE Lahore: Form 8 (school/college change) — check the current form, as published figures differ

Step-by-step process

  1. Get the migration form from your board office or download it from the board website (BISE Lahore uses Form 8).
  2. Fill in your registration number, roll number and the reason for migration.
  3. Get the form attested by the head of your current institution.
  4. Deposit the fee in the designated bank and attach the challan copy.
  5. Submit the form with all documents at the board office or through the board online portal.
  6. Collect the migration certificate on the given date (some boards issue within a few working days).

Important notes

  • Migration is allowed only before the admission cut-off date of the session — check your board notice.
  • Students taking re-admission after failing 9th or Inter Part-I can usually join another institution on their existing registration number without migration.
  • IBCC does not attest migration certificates.
  • If you lose the certificate, apply for a duplicate migration certificate from the same board.

How to use the letter generator

  2. Click Generate Letter.
  3. Copy the letter, print it, sign it, and attach it with your migration form.
Note: Fees and forms change from time to time. Always confirm the current fee and form number on your own board website before applying.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is a board migration certificate?

It is an official NOC issued by your board (BISE or Federal Board) that releases your registration so you can take admission in another board, school, college or university.

When do I need a migration certificate?

When you change boards after matric or inter, move from one BISE to another, or need a board-to-university NOC for admission. Students re-admitted after failing 9th or Inter Part-I usually do not need one.

What documents are required for a migration certificate?

Your board registration number, a copy of the school or college leaving certificate, a copy of your result card, B-Form or CNIC copy, the paid fee challan, and a written application. Exact lists vary slightly by board.

How much is the migration certificate fee?

Fees differ by board. Recent examples: BISE Mardan Rs 1,500 for board-to-board and Rs 2,000 for board-to-university, Federal Board Rs 530 for local students. Always pay the amount printed on your own board challan.

Will IBCC attest my migration certificate?

No. IBCC attests exam certificates and result cards, but not migration, character or provisional certificates.
