Exam Seating Plan Maker
Generate a visual exam seating chart in seconds. Enter the room layout and student roll numbers, choose an arrangement mode, block unusable seats, then print the chart or export a text list. The zigzag mode separates consecutive roll numbers to reduce cheating.

Students
Row-wise fills seats row by row. Column-wise fills column by column. Zigzag mixes low and high roll numbers so neighbours are never consecutive.

How to use
- Enter the room name, number of rows and columns. A 4 x 6 sample with 24 roll numbers is loaded.
- List roll numbers or names, one per line. Seats are assigned in the order you enter them.
- Pick an arrangement mode. Zigzag is best for exams because consecutive roll numbers end up far apart.
- Block broken or unusable seats with references like R1C3.
- Press Print seating chart for a clean chart, Export as text list for a plain list, or save the plan in your browser.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is the zigzag arrangement mode?
Zigzag seating alternates low and high roll numbers across the grid, so students with consecutive roll numbers never sit next to each other. This reduces copying during exams.
How do I block seats in the plan?
Type seat references such as R1C2, R2C5 separated by commas. Blocked seats stay empty and are skipped when roll numbers are assigned.
Can I print the seating chart?
Yes. Press Print seating chart to print the seat grid, or use Export as text list to get a plain text list of seat assignments.
What happens if there are more students than seats?
Extra roll numbers are listed separately below the grid as unseated students, so no one is silently dropped from the plan.
