Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is kaffara for a deliberately broken fast?
The common rule is that each deliberately broken fast of Ramadan requires fasting 60 consecutive days, or alternatively feeding 60 needy people.
What is the difference between qaza and kaffara?
Qaza means making up a missed fast one for one. Kaffara is the additional penalty for a fast that was broken deliberately, on top of qaza.
Do I still need qaza if I pay kaffara?
Yes. The missed or broken fast itself still needs to be made up with one qaza fast for each day, in addition to the kaffara.
How is the feeding cost calculated?
You enter the cost of feeding one person, for example one meal, and the tool multiplies it by the total number of people to be fed.
Is this a religious ruling?
No. This calculator is a planning aid only. Rules vary by school of thought, so please confirm with a trusted scholar.
