Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is the Keyboard Shortcut Trainer?
It is a free practice tool for keyboard shortcuts in five popular apps: VS Code, Chrome, Windows, Excel and Gmail. You can learn with flashcards or test yourself in quiz mode.
How does the press the keys quiz mode work?
The tool shows an action, such as save file, and you press the actual key combination on your keyboard. It checks the keys you pressed and tells you if you were right.
Why are some shortcuts missing from press mode?
Some key combinations, like Ctrl plus T or the Windows key, are reserved by the browser or the operating system and cannot be captured by a web page. Those shortcuts still appear in learn mode and multiple choice mode.
Does it save my best score?
Yes. Your best score for each app and quiz mode is saved in your browser with local storage, so it stays on this device.
