How to use
- Set your currency label, grace days and maximum cap per book if your library uses them.
- Add one row per overdue book and enter its title, days overdue and fine rate per day.
- Press Calculate fines to see the breakdown and the total across all books.
- Enter the student name and press Print receipt to print or save the receipt as PDF.
Note: Chargeable days = days overdue minus grace days. If the result is zero or below, no fine is charged for that book.
Tips
- Grace days keep the system fair for students who return a book only slightly late.
- A maximum cap stops one lost or very late book from building an unfair penalty.
- Always give the student a printed receipt so the fee is clear and on record.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How is the library fine calculated?
Days overdue multiplied by the fine rate per day. Grace days are removed from the count first, and the maximum cap limits the fine per book.
What are grace days and the maximum cap?
Grace days are late days your library forgives; the maximum cap sets a ceiling on the fine for one book, no matter how late it is.
Can I calculate fines for more than one book?
Yes. Press Add book row for each book. Each row gets its own days overdue and rate, and the tool totals them all.
Can I print the result for the student?
Yes. The receipt-style summary shows the student name, every book with its fine and the grand total. Press Print receipt to print or save it.
