Pace Calculator
For runners and walkers — enter distance and time to get your pace per km and per mile instantly. Reverse calculation is also here: enter your target pace and see your finish time.
1. Time + Distance → Pace
2. Pace + Distance → Finish Time

How it works
Pace means the time it takes to cover one kilometre (or mile). Formula: Pace = Total Time ÷ Distance. In the reverse calculation, finish time = pace × distance. Speed and pace are opposites of each other: speed (km/h) = 60 ÷ pace (min/km).
Example 1: 10 km in 50 minutes — pace = 50 ÷ 10 = 5:00 per km, speed = 12 km/h.
Example 2: At a 6:00/km pace, marathon (42.195 km) finish time = 6 × 42.195 ≈ 4 hours 13 minutes.
How to use
- Enter your distance and total time in section 1 to see your pace per km, pace per mile and speed.
- Use section 2: enter a target pace and distance to predict your finish time.
- Check the table to compare finish times for 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon at your pace.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What does the pace calculator do?
Enter distance and time to get your pace per kilometre and per mile plus speed in km/h. A second section reverses it: enter a target pace and distance to predict your finish time.
What formula does it use?
Pace equals total time divided by distance. Finish time equals pace times distance. Speed in km/h equals 60 divided by pace in minutes per km.
Which race distances does it show?
You can type any distance, and a table compares finish times for 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon at your current pace.
What is the difference between pace and speed?
Pace is the time it takes to cover one kilometre or mile, while speed is distance covered per hour. They are opposites of each other.
Can you give an example?
At a 6:00 per km pace, a marathon of 42.195 km takes about 4 hours 13 minutes.
