CNIC Address Change Guide — Pakistan
When you move to a new house or city, your NADRA CNIC address should be updated so that bank records, voter lists and official correspondence stay correct. This free guide explains the documents you need, the two ways to apply (NADRA center or the Pak Identity app), the fee options, and the expected timeline.

Current address vs permanent address
- Your CNIC shows a current address (where you live now) and a permanent address (your family home or long-term address).
- You can update either one or both, depending on what has changed.
- If you moved to a rented house in another city, usually only the current address needs updating.
- The address change request is for the address printed on the card; your CNIC number never changes.
Option 1: Apply at a NADRA Registration Center
- Visit any NADRA Registration Center with your documents from the checklist above.
- Take a token and tell the officer you want a CNIC modification (address change).
- Your photograph and fingerprints will be taken, and your documents will be verified.
- Choose your service level: Normal, Urgent or Executive, and pay the fee at the counter.
- You will receive a receipt with a tracking ID. Track the application status on the NADRA website using that ID.
- Your new card will be delivered to your address or can be collected from the center, depending on the option you selected.
Option 2: Apply through the Pak Identity app
- Download the official Pak Identity app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- Create an account with your email and complete the biometric verification steps in the app.
- Select the CNIC modification service and choose address change as the modification type.
- Fill in your new address exactly as it appears on your proof document and upload clear photos of your documents.
- Pay the fee online with a debit or credit card.
- The new card is printed and delivered to your new address once the application is approved.

| Urgent | Around 15 working days |
| Executive | Around 7 working days |
These are typical timelines and can vary with workload and public holidays. Use the tracking ID on your receipt to check the live status.
What changes on the card
- The address printed on the card is replaced with your new address.
- Your CNIC number stays exactly the same — it does not change for life.
- A new physical card is issued with the updated address.
- Update your address separately with your bank, mobile operator and employer, because they do not receive it automatically from NADRA.
