Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is a valid CNIC number format?

A valid CNIC has 13 digits in the form XXXXX-XXXXXXX-X, five digits, then seven digits, then one digit. This tool accepts the number with or without dashes.

Does this tool verify my identity?

No. This is format validation only. It checks that the number has 13 digits and reads the first digit as a region code. It does not verify whether the CNIC belongs to a real person.

What does the first digit of a CNIC mean?

The first digit shows the province or area of registration: 1 for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 2 for FATA, 3 for Punjab, 4 for Sindh, 5 for Balochistan, 6 for Islamabad, 7 for Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Can I check many CNIC numbers at once?

Yes. Switch to bulk mode and paste one CNIC per line. The tool validates each line and shows a table of results with the region for every valid number.

Is my CNIC data stored anywhere?

No. All checks run in your browser on your device. Nothing is sent to a server or stored.
