PDF Page Labels
Add custom labels to your PDF pages — Roman numbers (i, ii, iii) for front matter and normal numbers for the body. Everything happens in the browser, the file is not uploaded.
How to use
- Select a PDF file — the page count will show automatically.
- Define ranges: from which page to which page, which numbering style (Roman, ABC, or normal), prefix and starting number.
- Press the button — the labeled PDF will download. Labels will show in the PDF viewer's page navigation (thumbnail labels).
Tips
- Use Roman numerals (i, ii, iii) for front matter and normal numbers for the main body.
- Match each label range to the document's actual sections before applying.
- Write down your ranges first, so you can recreate the file if you change your mind.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What are PDF page labels?
Page labels change how page numbers are displayed in the PDF — for example front matter can show i, ii, iii while the body shows 1, 2, 3 — without changing the physical page order.
Which label styles are supported?
Decimal (1, 2, 3), roman lowercase (i, ii, iii) and uppercase (I, II, III), and alpha lowercase (a, b, c) and uppercase (A, B, C).
How do I label different sections differently?
Add a range with its starting and ending page, pick a style, and optionally set a prefix and start number — a prefix A- with start 1 gives labels like A-1, A-2.
Do page labels change the page order of my PDF?
No. Labels only change the numbering shown in the PDF viewer; the physical pages stay in the same order.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The labels are applied in your browser, so the file never leaves your device.
