About the scales

4.0 Standard scale: the most widely used international scale, where 4.0 is the highest possible GPA. Many universities outside Pakistan use it.

4.0 HEC Pakistan scale: the grading bands followed by Pakistani universities under Higher Education Commission rules. A percentage of 85 or above gives a 4.0 here.

5.0 scale: used by some institutes where results are marked on a scale with 5.0 as the top value instead of 4.0. The bands are spaced more widely than on the 4.0 scales.

Tips

  • Always confirm the final value with your institute official grading table, because bands can differ slightly.
  • Enter the exact percentage from your result card, not a rounded number, for a more accurate GPA.
  • For semester GPA, add every subject with correct credit hours in the weighted average section.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Which GPA scale should I choose?

Pick the scale your school uses: 4.0 Standard, 4.0 HEC Pakistan, or 5.0.

How do I calculate a weighted average GPA?

Click Add subject, enter each subject's percentage and credit hours, then Calculate weighted average to get the GPA across all subjects.

Why do different converters show different GPA values?

Each scale maps percentage ranges to grade points differently — for example, the HEC Pakistan scale and the standard 4.0 scale use different boundaries.

Do I get a letter grade too?

Yes. The converter shows the letter grade for the entered percentage along with the GPA.
