Shop Return Log
Keep every return and complaint in one ledger. Record the date, customer, item, amount, reason and whether it was a refund or an exchange. The tool totals everything by reason and type, and lets you search, filter, export and print the full log.

How to use
- Enter the return date, customer name, item and amount, then pick the reason and whether it was a refund or an exchange.
- Use the search box, reason filter, type filter and month filter to review exactly the returns you want.
- Check the running totals to see refunds vs exchanges, totals by reason and each reason share of the total.
- Press Export CSV to download the log for Excel or Google Sheets, or Print summary for a paper copy of the totals and table.
- Press the delete button on a row to remove a wrongly recorded return.
Tips
- Record returns the same day — entries written from memory at month end are the least reliable.
- Watch the totals by reason: a rising Defective share means it is time to talk to your supplier.
- Offer an exchange before a refund where possible — exchanges keep the money inside your shop.
- Export a CSV backup before clearing or switching devices — browser data is not shared between browsers.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What does the shop return log do?
It records every customer return and complaint with date, customer name, item, amount, reason and return type. It shows running totals by reason and by return type so you can spot problem items fast.
Which return reasons can I record?
You can pick Damaged, Defective, Wrong Item, Change of Mind, or Other. The log totals the amount and count for each reason so you can see which cause costs you the most.
How are refunds and exchanges tracked?
Every entry is marked as a refund or an exchange. The totals panel shows the refund count and refund amount separately from the exchange count and exchange amount.
Can I search or filter the return log?
Yes. You can search by customer name or item, filter by reason or by return type, and filter by month to review one month at a time.
Is my data saved on this device?
Yes. All returns are saved in your browser localStorage, so the log stays on your own device and loads automatically on your next visit. No account or signup is needed.
Can I export or print the log?
Yes. Press Export CSV to download the full log for Excel or Google Sheets, or press Print summary to print the totals and the table for your shop records.
