Silence Remover

Cut silent gaps out of voice recordings automatically. Upload your audio, set how quiet counts as silence and how long a gap must be to remove, then download the tightened version with before and after durations shown.

Any common audio format such as MP3, WAV or M4A. Everything is processed in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Anything quieter than this counts as silence.

This is an estimate based on your threshold settings. Very quiet speech can be treated as silence, so preview before you publish.

How to use

  1. Upload your voice recording or podcast audio file.
  2. Set the silence threshold and the minimum gap length to remove.
  3. Click Remove silence, check the before and after durations, then download the WAV.

Note: only silence longer than your minimum length is removed. Short natural pauses between sentences are kept.

Tips

  • Start with -35 dB and 0.6 seconds, then adjust after one preview.
  • If breathing or room tone disappears, raise the threshold to a less negative value such as -30 dB.
  • If long awkward pauses remain, increase the minimum silence length.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How does the silence remover work?

It decodes your audio in the browser, measures loudness in small windows, and cuts sections that stay below your threshold for longer than the minimum silence length.

Will it remove natural pauses in speech?

No. Only silence longer than the minimum length you set is removed, so short natural pauses stay in place.

What format does the result use?

The tightened audio downloads as a standard WAV file that opens in any audio editor or player.

What settings can I adjust?

The silence threshold, starting at minus 35 dB, and the minimum silence length, starting at 0.6 seconds. Preview the result, then adjust and try again.

What if parts of my voice get cut out?

Your threshold is probably too strict. Raise it to a less negative value, such as minus 30 dB, so breathing and room tone are not treated as silence.
