Sleep timer
No timer running. The timer fades the sound out over the last 2 minutes.
How to use
- Press Start on one or more sounds and set each volume to taste.
- Combine sounds — for example low brown noise plus soft rain.
- Set the sleep timer so the sound fades out after you fall asleep.
- Keep the phone volume comfortable and the screen off.
Note: Sounds are generated live with the Web Audio API, so they loop perfectly with no gaps. On iPhone, the tab must stay open and the silent switch must be off.
Tips
- Brown noise at low volume works best for most people as a base layer.
- Keep the total volume low enough that you can still hear a smoke alarm.
- Use the 30-minute timer to save battery overnight.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How does the sleep sound mixer work?
Press Start on any sound - White Noise, Pink Noise, Brown Noise or Rain - and adjust each volume slider to build your mix. All sounds are created live in your browser with the Web Audio API, so they loop perfectly with no gaps and nothing is downloaded.
What does the sleep timer do?
Pick 15, 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes and the sounds fade out gently over the last 2 minutes when the time ends, so you are not woken by a sudden stop.
Which sound is best for sleep?
Many people prefer brown noise or rain for a deep, low rumble, while white noise is better at masking sudden sounds like traffic or talking. Brown noise at low volume works well as a base layer for most people.
Can I combine several sounds at once?
Yes. Start multiple sounds - for example low brown noise plus soft rain - and mix their volumes. Use Play All or Stop All to control the whole mix at once.
Why does the sound stop on my iPhone?
On iPhone the tab must stay open and the silent switch must be off, otherwise the browser silences the generated audio. Keep the phone volume comfortable and the screen off.
