Tip: lay the phone flat on the surface for 2D leveling, or hold it against a wall in portrait for a 1D check.

How to use

  1. Press Enable Level and grant motion sensor permission if your phone asks.
  2. Lay your phone on the surface you want to check (or hold it against the surface).
  3. The bubble moves inside the circle; when it sits in the center, the surface is level.
  4. Press Calibrate at any time to zero the reading at the current position, then measure relative to that reference.

Good to know

  • The green dot in the middle is the target — center the yellow bubble on it for a level reading.
  • Calibration is useful for checking slopes or matching an existing angle rather than perfectly flat.
  • Desktop computers and laptops usually have no motion sensor — the tool will show a message if none is detected.
  • Phone cases and magnets nearby can slightly disturb the sensor; remove thick magnetic cases for best results.
  • This is a handy guide for hanging frames or placing furniture, not a certified measuring instrument.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How does the online spirit level work?

Lay your phone on the surface and the tool reads your device motion sensor, showing a bubble that moves inside a circular level plus live pitch and roll angles.

Why does it ask me to enable the level?

Mobile browsers only share motion sensor data after you allow it. Press Enable Level once to start the live reading.

What is the Calibrate button for?

Press Calibrate to zero out the current reading, so you can measure a surface against a reference angle instead of perfectly flat.

Does it work on desktop computers?

Desktop browsers usually have no motion sensor, so the tool shows a fallback message. It works best on a phone or tablet held against the surface.
