Text Encrypt & Decrypt
Protect private notes and messages with password-based AES-256 encryption that runs fully in your browser. Type your text, set a password and click Encrypt; paste the code and enter the same password to read it back.
How to use
- To encrypt: type your text, set a password, click Encrypt, and copy the code. Share the code anywhere — only the password can open it.
- To decrypt: paste the code, type the same password, click Decrypt.
- Keep the password safe separately — without it, recovery is impossible by design.
Good to know
- Use a long passphrase you can remember — a forgotten password cannot be recovered, ever.
- Send the encrypted code and the password through different channels (for example message plus a phone call).
- Short passwords are always the weak link, even with strong AES-256 encryption.
How it works: PBKDF2 (150,000 rounds) turns your password into a key, then AES-GCM 256 encrypts the text. The random salt and IV are packed with the result in Base64.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How does the encryption work?
Your password goes through PBKDF2 with 150,000 rounds to create a key, then the text is locked with AES-GCM 256 encryption. The salt and IV are packed with the result.
What happens if I forget the password?
The text can never be recovered. There is no backdoor, so keep the password stored separately.
Is my text uploaded to a server?
No. Encryption and decryption happen only on your device. Nothing is sent to any server.
How do I share an encrypted message?
Encrypt your text with a password, copy the code, and share the code anywhere. Only someone with the password can decrypt it.
