Thesis Statement Builder
Build a clear, one-sentence thesis for your essay by answering a few guided questions. Add your topic, position and supporting reasons — the tool drafts the statement, and you can reword it or try another style.
How to use
- Pick your essay type and the sentence style you prefer.
- Type your topic, your position or main idea, and two or three supporting reasons.
- Optionally add a counterargument for a stronger, balanced thesis.
- Press Build My Thesis. Copy the result and adjust the wording in your own voice.
- Try Another Style if you want a different version of the same idea.
Note: A thesis statement is a starting point, not a finished paragraph. Always rewrite it in your own words and check it against your teacher assignment rules before submitting.
Tips
- A strong thesis is one arguable sentence — avoid announcing the topic ("This essay will...").
- Put your position early in the sentence so the reader knows your stance.
- After building it, try reading it aloud; rewrite anything that sounds like two sentences joined together.
