Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is an udhaar khata?
An udhaar khata is a shop credit ledger used by small shopkeepers. When a customer takes goods on credit, the sale is written in the khata. When the customer pays, the payment is also recorded. The running balance shows how much each customer still owes.
How do I add a new customer to the ledger?
Type the customer name in the Add Customer box and press the Add Customer button. The customer appears in the ledger table with a balance of zero, ready for credit sales and payments.
How do I record a credit sale or a payment?
Select a customer from the list, choose whether the entry is a credit sale or a payment, enter the amount and the date, then press Save Entry. A credit sale increases the customer balance, and a payment reduces it.
Where is my data saved? Do I need an account?
No account is needed. All customers and entries are saved in your browser using localStorage, so the ledger is still there when you reopen the page on the same device and browser.
Can I delete a wrong entry or clear the whole ledger?
Yes. Each customer row has a delete button, and every ledger entry has its own remove button. A Clear All button deletes everything, but only after you confirm in the confirmation dialog.
