UUID Validator
Check one UUID or paste a whole list: each value gets a valid or invalid status with the exact reason, plus the detected UUID version (1, 3, 4, 5, 7) and variant when valid.
Results 0 valid 0 invalid
Press Validate to check the list.
How to use
- Paste one UUID or a list, one per line or separated by commas.
- Press Validate — every value is checked against the 8-4-4-4-12 pattern.
- Invalid values show the exact reason; valid ones show version and variant.
Note: Version is read from the first digit of the third segment (1, 3, 4, 5, 7); a version of 0 or 2 means no detected version. Variant is read from the first digit of the fourth segment. Nil and max UUIDs are valid special cases.
Tips
- Curly braces are stripped automatically, so {uuid} pasted from Windows dialogs works too.
- A missing or extra digit usually means the segment pattern check will point at the exact segment.
- Version 7 UUIDs are time-ordered and sortable; version 4 is fully random.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What does this UUID validator check?
It checks the 8-4-4-4-12 segment pattern, hex-only characters and version digits, then reports the exact reason for any invalid value.
Which UUID versions does it detect?
Versions 1, 3, 4, 5 and 7 are detected from the version digit, including the newer time-ordered version 7 from RFC 9562.
What are the UUID variants?
The variant comes from the first digit of the fourth segment: RFC 4122 for 8 to b, NCS reserved for 0 to 7, Microsoft reserved for c to d, and future reserved for e to f.
Can I validate many UUIDs at once?
Yes. Paste one UUID per line or separate them with commas, and each gets a valid or invalid status with the exact reason.
